BEGINNERSPOLO FAQ

WHEN AND WHERE? Every last friday of the month at ASKÖ Bewegungscencter Schmelz (take the entrance – Auf der Schmelz 10 – under the Studentenwohnheim, take a left inside and you´ll find the Polocourt in the backcorner)

WHAT HAPPENS AT BEGINNERSPOLO? On that day Beginners have priority on court. One of our players is hosting it and explains the basics, there will be exercises on court and usually Beginners “Pickups” Games will be played.

I AM BEGINNER.. CAN I ONLY PLAY AT BEGINNERSPOLO? No, you are welcome to join the trainings any time, but there will be no beginners priority. There is practice area next to the court you can use, or you join the regular pickups.

DO I NEED A BIKE? No, we have Loaner Bikes at the court you can use. Also other players will be happy to borrow their bike, when asked nicely! If you have a fitting bike (straight handlebar, low gear), you can also try out bikepolo with your own bike.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO BRING? We ask you to bring your own helmet (wearing is mandatory) & protection (if you have). Helmets, Knee- & Ellbowpads can be borrowed nevertheless.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Beginnerspolo is for free. After that you can join four sessions without paying. Then we ask you to choose a payment model.

CAN UNDERAGE TRAIN AND PLAY TOO? you dont need to be an adult to play polo, but we strongly suggest to inform your legal care-takers of your plans. We don´t take legal responsibility for any action during our trainings

HOW DO I GET CLUB MEMBER OF BPV? If you decide to play Polo regularly please ask for our info flyer. It gives you all the information how to become a club member, regarding membership fee, communication channels, loanerbikes, club info & contact persons, etc.

GLOSSARY

PICKUPS.. is how we call games (3vs3) on a regular training day

SHUFFLE.. is called the decisionmaking of who is playing in the pickups = everybody who wants to play, throws the mallet on the court, and someone “shuffles” the games & teams ➔ pick up your mallet and have fun!

MALLET.. is what we carry the ball with and shoot —————[]

JOUST.. is called the start of the game, each team chooses one person, who is going for the ball after “3, 2, 1 .. Polo” is called.
